Carbon and titanium lighten the load for driver-focused Lotus Evora 400

If you are looking for a comfortable everyday class don’t even consider the Lotus Evora 400. But if you are looking for a Sunday fun day car this is what you need. The main focus on this car is weight reduction. With the help of carbon fiber, this task is easier to do. Lotus engineers managed to reduce around 110lbs by using carbon fiber in different trims (front splitter, mirror caps etc.). Another element used to help in this project is titanium; its exhaust is completely made by titanium. Also, the lithium-ion battery used helps to reduce weight. With this exhaust and battery, Lotus managed to reduce the weight by 44lb more. What makes this car even more hard core racing style is that the air conditioner and back seats has been deleted, reducing another 37lbs more. The use of this materials to make the car lighter is going to result in a price increase, since these materials are more expensive than the traditional ones. This makes the car approximately $20,000 more expensive.

Ford made a mistake and now they’re paying for it. During their quality screening, they did an error by installing some faulty fuel pumps. Problems reported are that cars are not starting up or suddenly stalling. They managed to find the cause and are taking action by recalling them to correct the fault. This means they need to unexpectedly spend money, but this is the price they have to pay for committing an error. Like mentioned on the comments of the discussion, this may be a wake-up call for Ford’s quality management. This time it was a technically small error, but next time the story could be a different one.
